Long Trip to Kansas

Things changed last minute with Dad's work (he is starting training a month early) so he couldn't go cross country so we took off to Kansas for Memorial Day weekend. About 1 hour from our stop for the night the check engine light comes on. We hav 24 hour roadside assistance so we called and they said they would tow us to the nearest Audi dealership to have it fixed. We waiting at a gas station parking lot for 4 1/2 hours. Dad is practicing his golf in the parking lot here.
The tow truck finally comes around 3:30am. The nearest dealership is 3 hours away. It was a long drive. The driver had the radio station blaring so dad tried to make small talk the whole way so we didn't have to listen to the radio.

We arrive at the dealership around 6:30am (hoping it opens at 8:00am). We didn't really know what to do so we called a cab and asked for them to take us to get breakfast. Denny's was just over the hill so we paid $10 for a 6 block cab ride.
At breakfast, the lack of sleep is starting to catch up with us and we were pretty tired.
We walked back to the dealership after breakfast, in the rain, and still had time to kill. We were checking out our future car (yeah right!) They got the car fixed pretty quick and we were on the road by 9:30am. We checked into a motel for about 5 hours of sleep before we finished driving the rest of the way. Definitely a long day, I actually had to stay back for the trip and mom and dad were grateful they didn't have to deal with me!
