Birthday Dinners

Thanks to everyone who helped make my birthday special. It is never fun when your better half is gone but having great friends sure helps! At bible study, Julie had a delicious cake for me and we hung out all day. She and my friend Shanna were also planning on taking me to dinner. When we arrived I discovered they had arranged a bunch of girls to meet up too! I was so blessed! Thank you for celebrating with me!

Julie wanted to make sure I could really enjoy dinner so she held Chase some and had her husband hold him as well. It looks like they are ready for twins!

Thanks for helping out with Chase - even though you let him play with chopsticks (just kidding!).

On Friday night, my neighbor Lisa organized a few girls from the village to go to dinner. My friend Steph also went with us. Lisa even got me a babysitter (her mom!) so I have a little break.

Even though he couldn't be here, hubby did leave a gift hidden for me to open on my bday. That is probably the most advance planning he has ever done and it meant a lot! He also left a sweet note that I have kept at my bed and read almost every night!

Waking up

This is how it goes most mornings. I hear "talking" from the other room, I let him talk for a while but then figure it is time to go get Chase. I get out of bed and walk over to his room wondering how quickly we can both nap!
I say Good Morning Chase and I am almost always greeted with a huge smile! It always makes my day!
I then unswaddle him and he has to stretch for a while. So cute! He is sleeping great and I can't complain but it sure is a nice way to start the day! I love this little guy!

Spiders

So anyone I have talked to in the past month or two knows I hate spiders and I get big ones in my house. I have a wonderful neighbor who I have called 3 times to help remove them. The first time a couple weeks ago I was in tears and then last night I just couldn't reach it with the Hoover so I calmly called him to help me reach the guy. I am getting better. Well today on a walk I saw a young mom walking with her toddler. I am always on the lookout for friends so I said hi. She said "You alright?" which I have learned is the same as saying "hi, how are you?" At first I thought everyone was deeply concerned for me but then I figured it out. Anyways, she then asked if I had anymore spiders at my house. How did she know that? Am I becoming known in the village as the American who is scared of spiders?? I really need to get over this huh?! I keep on wanting to take a picture when I see one to show you just how big they are but I am just so focused on killing them. Please no comments on how spiders are "good" and help get rid of the bugs. They are not good when they are in my house!

*I just got back from my neighbor's house for lunch - the one whose husband helps me kill them. She said he came back from my house last night and said "Yep, that was a bloody big spider." See I am not completely crazy!*

Cambridge

We finally have something to blog about! We have been keeping busy hanging out with others and enjoying the beautiful weather. Today we headed to Cambridge. Julie and I have a friend that we knew in Texas who is here TDY so it has been fun hanging out with her and catching up. I was hesistant to take Chase all day but they were all so great with helping me. We had lunch at the Eagles Nest (I think) pub. It is one of the more well known pubs.

We decided to do a punting tour since that is the thing to do. It was cool to learn more about the different colleges that make up Cambridge University.
We hung out with a few of our friend's coworkers as well. I had to sit in the middle of the punt with Chase and a guy had to sit on either side to balance out the boat. So that is who is next to me. Just a little awkward:)

We also walked around the market and shops for a little bit. It was so nice to get out and enjoy this beautiful fall day!

I found a cute little hat for Chase.

2 Months

Chase had his two month appointment yesterday and did well. He weighed in at 12 lbs 14 oz (75th percentile) and was 23.75 inches long (also 75th percentile). He didn't like the shots but calmed down pretty quick and I didn't notice him acting too different during the day. Here are a few pictures of my growing baby...

He was a lot more serious for the 2 month picture!
But he is grabbing things more as you can see.

I love his little chubby thighs and the bugs bunny bandaide!

Just hanging out

**Update: To check out what Brad's been up to check out his brother's blog.**

I guess everyday life doesn't lead to many exciting posts. Chase is still helping me figure out this whole homemaking thing! I still feel like I am playing "mom" sometimes. I was calling around trying to find a babysitter for this weekend and that was so weird. It seemed like not too long ago I was the one getting called to babysit! We have been trying to watch as much football as we can but it is hard being 5 hours ahead of Eastern Time. Checking the scores/games in the middle of the night when I feed Chase keeps me up longer and it is starting to catch up with me!

Hard to believe our little guy is two months tomorrow. I have his checkup this week so I am curious to see his stats. Other than that not much is going on. Dad left without getting a picture of us so in case he gets to check the blog here we are missing him!
